Wheel, refurbished, 1966> (round hole in middle) Price includes refundable surcharge!
Refurbished wheel for 5 stud hubs. This is the narrower version with the round centre hole, used from October 1965 until April 1970
These wheels have been checked for straightness, blast cleaned, phosphate etch primed and repainted using stove enamel in grey (RAL7044), then baked to fully cure the paint.
We use RAL 7044 as it is virtually identical to the original grey colour on an original unfaded and unweathered wheel we compared it to.
We use stove enamel rather than powder coating as we have been unable to get good enough quality with the powder. This is due to the design of the wheel and the narrow seam where the centre joins the rim. The powder tends to bridge the narrow gap which would cause it to break and chip easily, or air trapped in the seam would cause the powder to bubble when it was melting. Both of these things mean the powder would not be properly bonded to the steel in the seam and would lift and chip easily.
These wheels are supplied on an exchange basis at £78.00 +VAT each and we must get your old wheels back to be refurbished. For this reason we have included a surcharge of £70 per wheel in the price, which will be refunded when we get your old wheels back. Wheels received back must be in a suitable condition to allow refurbishing. Excessively rusted or bent wheels will not be accepted.
Sometimes we might have a shortage of wheels due to delays in getting the old ones returned, and in this case we may need you to send your wheels first. If this is the case we will contact you. If you have spare wheels which are suitable for refurbishing, please contact us as we may want to buy them from you.
